Background

Maxwell Property Management was started in 1992 by Thompson Maxwell Herrick. Thompson got his start purchasing fixer-upper rental properties in Gloversville, Saratoga Springs, and Schenectady. Managing the renovation and rental of these early properties provided the foundational experience for building the business. Soon other landlords began asking Thompson to manage their properties. 

In 1998 Thompson obtained his broker license allowing him not only to manage multiple rental properties for multiple clients, but also to handle purchase and sale transactions. Maxwell now provides service to hundreds of properties for clients all over the country.

Also in 1998 Maxwell began a new area of business, as management agent for community associations. Maxwell now manages 14 associations with over 1,100 units. This includes condominium, homeowner, and neighborhood associations. Association management is a growing industry as one in six homeowners nationally lives in some type of community association.
